Kleros Fellowship of Justice Program
Kleros Fellowship of Justice Program is oriented to undergraduate and graduate students wishing to do work and conduct research in a number of fields relevant to Kleros such as computer science, mathematics, economics, law, social science and business.
It is a 2-6 month long paid (800€ which is increased to 1200€ for candidates already holding a bachelor) internship where the intern will get exposure to cutting edge civic technology with the potential of impacting billions in years to come. It can either be remote or in Lisbon. For the duration of the Fellowship Program, the candidate will collaborate with core members of the Kleros team by doing work or conducting research relevant to advance Kleros vision.
Graduates from Kleros Fellowship of Justice Program will be recognized as world experts in the field of decentralized justice.
Tracks
The Program is composed of 4 tracks which cover the key fields involved in Kleros: DApp Development, Cryptoeconomics, Law & Society and Business.
Candidates will apply to their field of choice. The specific skills to be accepted into the program will depend on the chosen track, but they all require a number of general abilities, including:
- High level of communication skills in English.
- Teamwork spirit.
- Ability to keep motivation while working remotely and autonomously.
Track DApp Development
The development of decentralized applications is a new discipline in computer science. Activities in this track involve writing code, participating in code reviews, developing tests and dealing with potential bugs and vulnerabilities.
Who should apply?
Students in computer science interested in increasing their knowledge and skills in decentralized applications.

- Launching new features or enhancements to the platform.
- Writing tests for new or existing features.
- Improve performance and identify potential flaws or vulnerabilities.
Track Cryptoeconomics
Cryptoeconomics refers to the combination of cryptography, computer networks and game theory to create secure and decentralized systems. Activities in this track involves conducting cryptoeconomics research with the goal of making Kleros more robust, efficient and secure.
Who should apply?
Students in computer science, mathematics and economics interested in increasing their knowledge in cryptoeconomics.

- Improvement of voting and token redistribution mechanisms.
- Handling of multi-outcome disputes.
- Preventing or reducing griefing attacks in dispute resolution systems.
- The honest unity problem (creating incentives for at least one party to execute a task or act in an honest manner).
- Random number generation among parties not trusting each other.
- Algorithmic method to reduce on-chain complexity and gas usage.
Track Law & Society
Kleros is a groundbreaking technology with many implications on legal and governance systems. Activities in this track involve conducting research on the interactions between Kleros and legal, regulatory and governance systems.
Who should apply?
Students in law, social science, economics or humanities fields.
Examples of topics
- Evolution of arbitration regulation with the advent smart contract enforcement and decentralized dispute resolution systems.
- Online dispute resolution in emerging economies.
Track Business
This track involves research and work on use cases of Kleros and business models in the field of decentralized justice. Activities in this track are oriented to have a better understanding of Kleros use cases and fostering adoption.

Students in business, especially interested in legaltech and blockchain.

There is no specific age limit. Anyone with passion for advancing Kleros is eligible.
How many Fellows do you select?
There’s no hard limit but we keep the amount low to be able to provide proper guidance.
If I’m accepted in the Program, do I need to move somewhere?
No. Kleros Fellows are based all over the world.
However, if you wish (or your university does not allow remote internships) you can come to Lisbon for the internship (note that if you need a VISA we need to set up the administrative paperwork well in advance).
Do you offer positions to Kleros fellows?
We always look to offer positions to people who can contribute to Kleros mission.
Is there an application deadline?
No. Admissions are done on a rolling basis.
